My journey to becoming a Reiki Master began with my own health struggles and a deep-rooted need for scientific proof. With a mind grounded in logic and evidence, I initially viewed energy healing with skepticism. However, as I delved into studying the nervous system, the organs, and the enegetics of the body, I began to see undeniable connections. I learned how trauma and emotions are stored in the body, affecting specific organs and creating imbalances that manifest as physical and emotional distress. It became clear that the chakra system was not just a mystical concept but an energetic reflection of the body's physiological processes. This realization transformed my understanding of healing—bridging science with energy work—and ultimately led me to Reiki, where I continue to witness, every day, the profound results in both myself and others.
The idea that the human body emits energy isn’t just spiritual—it’s scientific. The human heart produces an electromagnetic field that is measurable up to 3 feet away using magnetometers and even further using more sensitive instruments. According to research by the HeartMath Institute, this energy field is directly influenced by our emotions, proving that our body is constantly radiating, absorbing, and interacting with energy. If the heart—a physical organ—can generate a measurable electromagnetic field, it stands to reason that other key energy centers in the body, known as chakras, could be doing the same.
Chakras are not just mystical concepts—they align closely with major nerve plexuses and organ systems in the body. These centers regulate both physical and energetic balance, making them critical to health and well-being. Each chakra vibrates at its own electromagnetic frequency, influencing specific areas of the body:
1. Root Chakra (Muladhara) - Base of the Spine
Nerve Bundle: Sacral plexus
Organs: Adrenal glands, spine, legs, colon, kidneys
Function: Stability, survival, grounding
Effect of Imbalance: Anxiety, digestive issues, lower back pain
2. Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) - Lower Abdomen
Nerve Bundle: Lumbar plexus
Organs: Reproductive organs, bladder, kidneys
Function: Creativity, sexuality, emotional balance
Effect of Imbalance: Low libido, emotional instability, reproductive issues
3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) - Upper Abdomen
Nerve Bundle: Solar plexus (Celiac plexus)
Organs: Stomach, liver, pancreas, intestines
Function: Confidence, personal power, digestion
Effect of Imbalance: Digestive issues, low self-esteem, chronic fatigue
4. Heart Chakra (Anahata) - Center of the Chest
Nerve Bundle: Cardiac plexus
Organs: Heart, lungs, thymus gland
Function: Love, connection, compassion
Effect of Imbalance: Heart disease, respiratory issues, emotional detachment
5. Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) - Throat and Neck
Nerve Bundle: Cervical plexus
Organs: Thyroid, vocal cords, esophagus
Function: Communication, self-expression
Effect of Imbalance: Thyroid problems, sore throat, fear of speaking up
6. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) - Forehead
Nerve Bundle: Carotid plexus
Organs: Pineal gland, brain, eyes
Function: Intuition, perception, inner wisdom
Effect of Imbalance: Headaches, brain fog, lack of clarity
7. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) - Top of the Head
Nerve Bundle: Cerebral cortex and central nervous system
Organs: Brain, pituitary gland
Function: Spiritual connection, enlightenment
Effect of Imbalance: Depression, confusion, disconnection from self and universe
Scientific studies have confirmed that trauma and stress can become stored in muscles, nerves, and organs. The autonomic nervous system holds onto past stress, causing chronic tension, inflammation, and emotional suppression. The work of Dr. Bessel van der Kolk (author of The Body Keeps the Score) highlights how trauma is not just psychological but is deeply embedded in the body’s tissue and neural pathways.
For example:
Unresolved fear and anxiety often manifest in the gut (Solar Plexus Chakra) leading to digestive issues.
Emotional pain from heartbreak is linked to the Heart Chakra and can contribute to heart and lung conditions.
Suppressed emotions and unspoken truths accumulate in the Throat Chakra, causing chronic throat tightness and thyroid dysfunction.
This energetic stagnation can prevent full healing, keeping the body in a state of imbalance.
Reiki is more than just relaxation—it works directly with the body’s biofield, helping to clear blockages and release stored trauma. Reiki practitioners act as conduits, directing healing energy into areas where the body has stored pain, stress, or emotional wounds.
How Reiki Works to Balance the Chakras
-Induces Deep Meditation: Reiki silences the overactive mind, shifting the brain into a Theta state. During the theta brainwave state, the body enters deep relaxation activating the parasympathetic nervous system. This promotes cellular repair and immune function. Studies show that theta states can increase white blood cell production, enhancing the body's ability to fight infections and reduce inflammation. This state facilitates neuroplasticity, enabling the subconscious reprogramming of stress responses and the release of trauma stored in the nervous system and organs.
-Releases Energy Blockages: During a Reiki session, the practitioner's hand placements serve as focal points that guide the body's attention to specific areas, encouraging the release of energetic and physical blockages. When stress and trauma accumulate, the body stores cortisol and other stress hormones in the muscles, leading to chronic tension, fatigue, and even pain. The additional energy channeled through Reiki helps stimulate circulation, activate the parasympathetic nervous system, and promote the breakdown of these stored stress hormones, allowing muscles to relax and the body to return to a state of balance and healing.
Harmonizes Electromagnetic Frequencies: Reiki aligns each chakra with its optimal vibrational state, helping the body return to homeostasis. It essentially "tunes" the body. This process works by subtly adjusting the body's bioelectromagnetic field, which can become disrupted due to stress, trauma, and environmental influences. As Reiki energy flows through the body, it helps to clear energetic congestion, restoring the natural frequency of each chakra and promoting better communication between the nervous system, endocrine system, and organs. This alignment not only supports emotional balance and mental clarity but also enhances the body's natural healing mechanisms, improving overall well-being.
Modern science is beginning to validate what ancient wisdom has known for centuries: our bodies are energetic as much as they are physical. Chakras are not just spiritual ideas—they correlate with nerve plexuses, organ function, and measurable energy fields. When stress, trauma, or emotional pain disrupt these energy centers, Reiki provides a gentle, non-invasive way to restore balance and initiate deep healing.
If you’ve been struggling with stress, emotional weight, or chronic tension, Reiki may be the key to unlocking your body’s natural ability to heal. Ready to experience the benefits for yourself? Let’s begin your journey to energetic balance and renewal.
