How Do Our Thoughts and Speech Affect Our Bodies?
Our bodies are composed of approximately 70% water, highlighting the vital role this element plays in our overall health and well-being. However, the water within us is far from ordinary. It is not your basic H2O.
Enclosed within the electromagnetic masterpiece that is the human body, this water exists in a structured, crystalline-like state known as exclusion zone (EZ) water. It forms a highly ordered molecular arrangement, essentially a gel-like liquid crystal. This structured water is uniquely responsive to external influences such as vibration, frequency, and electromagnetic energy.
Our speech is a form of vibrational energy, as sound waves are created by the movement of vocal cords, producing measurable frequencies that propagate through the air and interact with matter. Thoughts also create energy waves. Through the brain’s electrical activity, thoughts generate measurable brainwave frequencies that produce electromagnetic fields detectable by EEG.
One can only imagine the profound impact that thoughts and speech may have on the highly responsive water within our bodies! Let's explore some compelling examples of this in action.
Dr. Masaru Emoto’s Water Crystal Experiments
In his book The Hidden Messages in Water, Masaru Emoto (2004) explores how thoughts and emotions influence water’s structure. In his studies, water samples were exposed to various words, music, and prayers before being frozen. The resulting ice crystals exhibited distinct differences:
Water exposed to positive words like "love" and "gratitude" formed intricate, symmetrical crystals resembling snowflakes.
Conversely, water subjected to negative expressions such as "hate" or "anger" resulted in fragmented, disordered crystal formations.

These observations suggest that water can reflect the emotional energy it absorbs. For a detailed overview of Dr. Emoto's work, you can visit the official website of the Office Masaru Emoto or purchase his book here.
The Rice Experiment: Words and Their Effect on Organic Matter
Expanding upon his research, Dr. Emoto conducted the Rice Experiment to further illustrate the influence of words and intentions. In this study, he placed cooked rice into three separate jars:
The first jar was labeled with positive phrases like "Thank you," and daily affirmations were spoken to it.
The second jar bore negative labels such as "You fool," accompanied by daily verbal negativity.
The third jar was ignored entirely, receiving neither positive nor negative attention.
Over time, the rice in the positively labeled jar began to ferment, emitting a pleasant aroma. In contrast, the rice in the negatively labeled jar darkened and spoiled. The neglected jar exhibited the most deterioration, turning into a dark, moldy mass. This experiment highlights not only the potential impact of our words but also the detrimental effects of neglect and indifference.
Scientific Evidence: The Effects of Intention on Water Crystals
While Dr. Masaru Emoto’s experiments have sparked both curiosity and skepticism, further research has tested the idea that human consciousness can influence water. One notable study, “Double Blind Test of the Effects of Distant Intention on Water Crystal Formation” by Dean Radin and colleagues, examined this under controlled conditions (Radin et al., 2006).
In the experiment, 2,000 people in Tokyo focused positive intentions toward water samples in a shielded room in California, while identical control samples remained untreated. After freezing, ice crystals from both sets were blindly judged for aesthetic appeal. The results showed that water exposed to positive intentions formed significantly more appealing crystals than the controls (P = .001, one-tailed).
This double blind study suggests that human intention may influence water’s molecular structure, an intriguing possibility given that our bodies are mostly water. While more research is needed, these findings support the idea that our words, emotions, and intentions may have real, tangible effects on ourselves and others.
The Power of Words and Intention on Our Well-Being
We have all witnessed the harmful effects of mean and harsh words, especially on children, whose emotional and psychological well-being can be deeply impacted by negativity. Science has shown that prolonged stress and negative thinking can weaken the immune system, increase inflammation, and contribute to illness over time.
The phrase “worry yourself sick” is more than just an expression. It reflects a real physiological response. Chronic negative thoughts and stress trigger the release of cortisol and other stress hormones, which, when sustained, can lead to anxiety, digestive issues, high blood pressure, and even a weakened immune system.
Given that we are predominantly composed of water, these findings carry profound implications. The words we speak and the thoughts we hold, both toward ourselves and others, directly influence our internal environment. Positive language and uplifting thoughts promote harmony and health, while negativity can create stress, imbalance, and physical ailments.
As a simple yet meaningful practice, consider offering kind words or blessings to your water or beverage before consuming it. This mindful act serves as a reminder of the power of positivity and its tangible effects on our well-being. By fostering a habit of speaking kindly, we not only nourish ourselves but also create a ripple effect, spreading positivity to those around us.
Putting This Into Practice
For the next seven days, I invite you to incorporate this practice into your daily routine. Affirmations are a powerful tool for challenging negative thought patterns and rewiring the brain to create new, positive ones.
Write down three affirmations (see examples below). Each morning upon waking and each evening before sleep, your brain naturally enters a theta brainwave state, a hypnotic phase where the mind is highly receptive to suggestion. During this time, recite your three affirmations three times to reinforce positive thinking and transformation.
Examples:
I am strong and healthy.
I welcome joy and abundance.
I am at peace with myself and the world.
Love and kindness flow through me.
I am worthy of happiness and success.
My mind is clear, and my heart is open.
Keep track of how you feel in the coming days. Initially, these phrases may be difficult to say and may even feel inauthentic. But day by day, you will become more comfortable. After seven days, reflect on how you have been feeling and adjust your affirmations as needed.
